During a match between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Indian Premier League 2025, bowler Khaleel Ahmed had a forgettable over where he conceded a whopping 33 runs. This over has now become the most expensive over in the tournament for that year.
In the 19th over of the innings, Khaleel was bowling to Romario Shephard when he gave away four sixes and two fours. To add insult to injury, he also bowled a no ball during that over. This performance put him on par with Parwinder Awana from Kings XI Punjab, who had also conceded 33 runs in an over against Chennai Super Kings in a previous edition of the tournament.
The overall record for the most expensive over in the IPL is held by P. Parameswaran, who played for Kochi Tuskers Kerala. He had a disastrous over where he gave away 37 runs against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in a past edition of the tournament.
Khaleel’s performance may have been disappointing, but it serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of T20 cricket, where fortunes can change in a matter of a few balls. Despite this setback, he will be looking to bounce back in the upcoming matches and redeem himself on the field.
