The upcoming Indian Premier League auction for the 2025 season is scheduled to take place in Jeddah on November 24 and 25. A total of 577 players will be up for sale during the auction. Each team participating in the auction will have a purse of Rs 120 crore, which is Rs 30 crore more than the previous large auction held in 2022.

Out of the 46 players retained by the 10 teams, Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals have retained the maximum of six players each, using a significant portion of their auction budget. The players have set their base prices ranging from Rs 2 crore to a minimum of Rs 30 lakh. Teams are required to have a minimum of 18 players in their squad for the upcoming season, with an upper limit of 25 players.

According to the rules established by the IPL Governing Council, teams must spend a minimum amount at the auction, which has been set at Rs 90 crore for this year’s auction. This amount is the same as the auction purse for the previous large auction held before the 2022 edition of the tournament. Teams will need to strategize carefully to ensure they meet the minimum spending requirement while also acquiring the players they need to build a competitive squad for the upcoming season.
