The upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction for 2025 is set to take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where top players like Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Jos Buttler, and Mitchell Starc will be up for grabs on November 24 and 25. This mega auction will determine the future of all ten IPL franchises for the next three years. The teams heading into the auction have varying purse amounts, depending on their player retentions.

Before the auction, each franchise was allowed to retain a maximum of six players, with Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals opting to retain the full quota. As a result, their auction purse has been significantly reduced. The total salary cap for each franchise includes the auction purse, incremental performance pay, and match fees, with the total sum increasing over the next three years.

After the retention process, Punjab Kings have the highest auction purse, while Rajasthan Royals have the lowest. The auction purse for each franchise is as follows:
– Punjab Kings: INR 110.5 crore
– Royal Challengers Bengaluru: INR 83 crore
– Delhi Capitals: INR 73 crore
– Gujarat Titans: INR 69 crore
– Lucknow Super Giants: INR 69 crore
– Chennai Super Kings: INR 55 crore
– Kolkata Knight Riders: INR 51 crore
– SunRisers Hyderabad: INR 45 crore
– Mumbai Indians: INR 45 crore
– Rajasthan Royals: INR 41 crore

Several franchises have retained key players ahead of the auction, with defending champions KKR retaining Andre Russell, Rinku Singh, and Sunil Narine, while Mumbai Indians kept Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, and Rohit Sharma. Chennai Super Kings retained MS Dhoni as an uncapped player for INR 2 crore. The complete list of retained players for each franchise has been finalized, setting the stage for an exciting and competitive auction in 2025.
