Chennai Super Kings, an Indian Premier League franchise, introduced its Hall of Fame during the ‘CSK Roar’ event at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium on March 22. The inaugural inductees were former India international Suresh Raina and former Australia opener Matthew Hayden. Raina, also known as Chinna Thala, holds the fifth spot on the all-time IPL top run-scorers list with 5528 runs and is the franchise’s second-highest run-scorer behind MS Dhoni. He played for CSK from 2008 to 2019, missing just one match out of 165 during that period. Raina was part of the title-winning squads in 2010, 2011, 2018, and 2021, as well as winning the Champions League T20 in 2010 and 2014. Hayden, on the other hand, scored 1107 runs in 32 IPL appearances and won the Orange Cap in 2009. He was also a member of the winning squads in 2010. Both Raina and Hayden were honored as “OG Legends” along with other former CSK stars like Dwayne Bravo, Harbhajan Singh, Ambati Rayudu, and Michael Hussey. The ceremony celebrated the team’s past victories as they aim for their sixth IPL title in 2026. The event marked a significant moment for CSK fans as they reminisced about the contributions of these cricketing legends.
