Delhi Capitals are making significant changes to their coaching staff ahead of the next IPL season, with former Sri Lanka fast bowler Chaminda Vaas set to join as the fast bowling coach. While the franchise has yet to officially announce Vaas’ appointment, sources have confirmed that he has already started working with the team at their camp in New Delhi.
Vaas, who had a successful international career playing 111 Tests and 322 ODIs, brings a wealth of experience to the Capitals. He was a key member of Sri Lanka’s 1996 World Cup-winning team and has since worked in various coaching roles, specializing in fast bowling development.
In addition to Vaas, veteran Indian leg-spinner Amit Mishra has also joined the camp to work as a spin coach. Mishra, known for his success in the IPL, will bring valuable experience to the Capitals’ bowling group.
The franchise is also undergoing changes in the coaching staff, with former India captain Sourav Ganguly taking over as head coach from Hemang Badani. Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh will join as an assistant coach.
These changes come after a disappointing 2025 season for the Capitals, where they failed to qualify for the Playoffs. The revamped coaching setup will now focus on preparing the team for a more competitive campaign in 2027.
The Capitals’ reshaped coaching staff will be crucial in guiding the team to success in the upcoming IPL season.
