The Melbourne Stars are gearing up for an action-packed summer with the addition of English twins Jamie and Craig Overton to their roster. This comes after the recent signing of Finn Allen, known for his explosive batting skills.
The Overton twins will make history as the first twins to play in the men’s Big Bash League when they take the field together. While Craig is new to the Big Bash League, Jamie joins the Stars after a successful stint with the Adelaide Strikers, where he took 12 wickets in 10 matches last season.
Melbourne Stars general manager James Rosengarten expressed excitement over the dual signing, stating that it has set the team up for success. He highlighted the unique story of twin brothers playing together and emphasized the valuable skills that both Jamie and Craig bring to the club.
Described as genuinely quick bowlers and big hitters, the Overton brothers are expected to trouble opposing batters and provide fireworks at the end of the batting innings. With a lineup that includes Allen, Sam Harper, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, and Hilton Cartwright, the Stars boast one of the deepest batting cards in the league.
Rosengarten believes that combining the Overton twins with veteran Peter Siddle’s pace will make the Stars a formidable force on the field. Fans can look forward to an exciting season ahead as the Melbourne Stars aim for success in the Big Bash League.
