Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss in the IPL 2026 final and chose to field first against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The decision proved to be a wise one as their pace bowlers made early inroads into the GT batting lineup. Josh Hazlewood dismissed GT captain Shubman Gill in the third over, followed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar picking up Sai Sudharsan in the next over.

As a result, Gujarat Titans only managed to score 45 runs for the loss of two wickets in the PowerPlay and continued to lose wickets regularly. By the first timeout, they were struggling at 59 for three. With their top-order failing to fire, GT was in danger of posting a below-par total.

The lowest total in an IPL final was scored by Sunrisers Hyderabad, who were bowled out for 113 in the 2024 final against Kolkata Knight Riders. The only other team to be bowled out in an IPL final was Chennai Super Kings, who managed 125 for nine against Mumbai Indians in 2013.

The match between RCB and GT was poised to be an exciting one, with RCB’s bowlers putting them in a strong position early on. Fans eagerly awaited to see if GT could recover and put up a competitive total or if RCB would continue to dominate with their bowling attack.
