Royal Challengers Bangalore all-rounder Tim David was fined 25% of his match fee and received one demerit point for disobeying an umpire’s instruction during the IPL match against Mumbai Indians. This breach of Level 1 of the IPL’s code of conduct led to the penalty. Additionally, Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya was fined for a slow over-rate during the game.

The IPL stated that David was found to have breached Article 2.4 of the code of conduct for players and team officials. Pandya, on the other hand, was fined Rs 12 lakhs for his team’s first offense of the season under Article 2.22 of the code of conduct.

During the match, both teams experienced prolonged interruptions due to the hot and humid conditions. Despite this, RCB’s innings lasted just over two hours, while the second innings finished in slightly over two hours as well.

David’s infractions included not handing over the ball to the umpires twice during RCB’s innings, where he scored a quick 34 not out. The first incident occurred during the 18th over when he refused to give the ball to the umpires after it was changed. The second incident happened during the 20th over, where he again failed to comply with the umpire’s instructions.

David admitted to the offense and accepted the sanction imposed by the IPL. The incident took place on April 13, 2026.
