Sri Lankan cricketer Nuwan Thushara, who had taken legal action against the Sri Lanka Cricket board for denying him permission to participate in the IPL, has now apologized to the governing body. Thushara expressed in an email to SLC that his intention was not to cause trouble but rather to seek fairness and justice as he felt he was being treated unfairly.

The SLC informed the District Court in Colombo that they would be filing objections to Thushara’s court application seeking permission to play in the 2026 IPL. The 31-year-old had filed a case asking for a No Objection Certificate from the SLC, which was denied due to failed fitness tests.

Thushara has represented Sri Lanka in 30 T20 international matches since 2022 and was set to play for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the upcoming IPL season. The court has scheduled the next hearing for April 23.

This dramatic turn of events comes after Thushara’s initial legal challenge, with him now considering withdrawing his case. The apology and possible withdrawal signal a potential resolution to the dispute between the player and the cricket board. The situation has garnered attention as cricket fans await further developments in this ongoing saga.
