South Africa allrounder George Linde has joined the Indian Premier League side Lucknow Super Giants as a replacement for the injured Sri Lankan player Wanindu Hasaranga. Tom Moody, the global director of cricket at the franchise, announced the news during LSG’s away match against Kolkata Knight Riders. Linde’s upfront attitude in revealing the replacement was appreciated by commentators as a refreshing change from the usual secrecy surrounding such matters in IPL franchises.
The IPL media release confirmed Linde’s signing, stating that Hasaranga’s hamstring injury from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup ruled him out of the tournament. Linde, a left-handed batting allrounder with experience in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is for South Africa, will make his debut in the TATA IPL with LSG at his reserve price of INR 1 crore.
LSG, after losing their season opener, have won their last two games, with Mukul Choudhary’s heroics against KKR helping them secure a thrilling victory. The team will face Gujarat Titans in their upcoming match at the Ekana Stadium. Team owner Sanjiv Goenka was pleased with the team’s performance and is looking forward to their upcoming games.
