Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, the Rajasthan Royals opener, was awarded the IPL emerging player of the year for the 2026 season. He achieved this feat after an outstanding performance in the final match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad. Sooryavanshi scored a total of 776 runs in 16 matches with an impressive strike rate of 237.30 and an average of 48.50. At just 15 years and 65 days old, he became the youngest player to win this prestigious award, surpassing Sai Sudharsan from Gujarat Titans who won it last season at the age of 23.

Sooryavanshi also made history by being the first player to win both the MVP award and the Emerging Player award in the same season. This remarkable achievement showcases the exceptional talent and performance of the young cricketer for the Royals. The first recipient of the Emerging Player award was Shreevats Goswami from RCB in the 2008 season.

The list of previous winners of the IPL Emerging Player of the Season award includes notable names like Rohit Sharma, Saurabh Tiwary, Sanju Samson, and Rishabh Pant. Sooryavanshi’s name now joins this prestigious list of emerging talents in the IPL. The award ceremony took place on June 1, 2026, marking another milestone in the young cricketer’s career.
