Both Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Rajat Patidar and Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins have been fined for their teams’ slow over-rate during their recent Indian Premier League match. Cummins was fined Rs 12 lakh for his team’s first offense of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct, while Patidar was docked Rs 24 lakh as a member of the playing XI of the second-time offender RCB.

The IPL stated that Patidar’s fine was due to RCB’s second offense of the season relating to minimum over-rate offenses. The rest of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, were each fined either Rs 6 lakh or 25% of their match fees, whichever was lesser. Cummins, on the other hand, was fined Rs 12 lakh for SRH’s first offense of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct.

Despite already securing a playoff berth, RCB suffered a 42-run loss against SRH in their penultimate league game. The fines serve as a reminder to teams to maintain the required over-rate during matches to avoid penalties in the future.

In conclusion, both teams have been held accountable for their slow over-rates, with the captains facing significant fines for their teams’ offenses. The IPL Code of Conduct aims to ensure fair play and efficiency during matches, and these fines serve as a deterrent to prevent similar offenses in the future.
