The celebration of RCB’s IPL 2025 victory turned tragic as a stampede outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium resulted in 11 deaths and 33 injuries. Despite police advice to postpone the celebrations by a week, the state government and RCB proceeded with the event within 18 hours of the win. Senior officers had warned against holding a procession and recommended a more organized gathering at the stadium, but their advice was disregarded. The concern was that foreign players might leave soon, leading to the decision to go ahead with the celebrations. The chaotic scene outside the stadium, with over two lakh people trying to enter, quickly spiraled out of control. The police officers described the situation as unprecedented and exhausting. The tragedy occurred before the event even began at Vidhana Soudha. The state government and RCB’s refusal to heed the police advice ultimately resulted in the devastating stampede.
