Gujarat Titans secured a spot in the Indian Premier League playoffs for the fourth time in five seasons after defeating Chennai Super Kings by 89 runs. Despite finishing in the top two, spinner Rashid Khan believes there is still room for improvement. The team, which won the title in its debut season in 2022, won nine out of 14 matches and is currently second in the table behind Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Rashid emphasized the importance of not becoming complacent and remaining focused on continuous improvement. He highlighted the team’s approach of keeping things simple and being prepared to take on any challenge that comes their way. In the recent match against Chennai, Gujarat’s bowlers, including Rashid, Mohammed Siraj, and Kagiso Rabada, played a crucial role in restricting the opposition to 140 runs.

The bowling unit has been a standout performer for Gujarat this season, with Siraj, Rabada, and Rashid featuring among the top wicket-takers in the tournament. Rabada is currently tied for the most wickets alongside RCB’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar with 24 scalps. Rashid praised the adaptability of the team to different conditions, which has been key to their success.

Additionally, the openers Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan have been instrumental in Gujarat’s campaign, with Sudharsan leading the run charts with 638 runs in 14 matches, followed by Gill with 616 runs in 13 games. The IPL playoffs are set to begin on Tuesday, with Gujarat Titans looking to continue their impressive form as they aim to clinch the title once again.
