Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad received a hefty fine of ₹24 Lakh, while the rest of the team faced fines of ₹6 Lakh or 25% of their match fees, whichever is lower. While it may seem surprising, this is not the first time an entire IPL team has been penalized for a slow over-rate. Teams like Mumbai Indians, CSK, and Rajasthan Royals have faced similar penalties in the past. CSK were relatively fortunate to only face fines this time, as a third offense would have resulted in a suspension for the captain and higher fines for the entire team. The night in Ahmedabad was forgettable for CSK, as they were thoroughly outplayed by Gujarat Titans and faced criticism for their performance on the field.
