Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) Captain Ajinkya Rahane has been fined Rs 12 lakh for maintaining a slow over-rate during their recent Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The match saw KKR suffer a 32-run defeat, extending their winless run this season.
The IPL media advisory announced the fine, stating that it was Rahane’s team’s first offense of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which deals with minimum over-rate offenses. The fine was imposed as a result of KKR’s slow over-rate during Match No. 22 of the tournament at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
KKR will now face Gujarat Titans in their next match in Ahmedabad on Friday. The team will be looking to bounce back from their recent loss and secure their first win of the season.
The news of Rahane’s fine comes as a setback for KKR, who will now have to ensure that they maintain a healthy over-rate in their upcoming matches to avoid further penalties. The team will be hoping to put this incident behind them and focus on getting their campaign back on track.
The IPL season is in full swing, with teams battling it out for a spot in the playoffs. Fans can expect more exciting matches and thrilling moments as the tournament progresses.
