Ajinkya Rahane continues to face challenges this season as the Kolkata Knight Riders struggle in IPL 2026, remaining winless after their first five games. Rahane was found guilty of breaching the Code of Conduct during the match against Chennai Super Kings and was fined INR 12 lakh for a slow over-rate offence. He is the fourth captain to be charged this season, following Shreyas Iyer, Shubman Gill, and Ruturaj Gaikwad.

The Kolkata Knight Riders have hit a new low this season, failing to secure a single win in their first five matches. They lost to Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad, finally gaining a point in a rain-abandoned game against Punjab Kings. However, they were unable to bounce back against Lucknow Super Giants and CSK, leaving them at the bottom of the points table.

This losing streak marks the second-longest in Kolkata’s history, matching a run from 2019. Their worst losing streak remains nine matches in IPL 2009.
