The first day of the Indian Premier League Player Auction will feature 84 cricketers, with the first 12 sets of players being called by auctioneer Mallika Sagar. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the schedule, which includes breaks of 30 minutes and two breaks of 15 minutes each during the proceedings. Only one set each of capped and uncapped players will be auctioned on the opening day.
There were some doubts raised about incremental bid amounts by franchises, but the BCCI clarified that bids between Rs. 1 crore and Rs. 2 crore will increase by Rs. 10 lakh. The incremental bids remain the same as last year: Rs. 5 lakh (up to 1 crore), Rs. 10 lakh (1 to 2 crore), Rs. 20 lakh (2 to 5 crore), and Rs. 25 lakh (5 crore onward).
Arshdeep Singh was the first player to go under the hammer from the marquee set, with Punjab Kings using their Right to Match option to secure him for Rs. 18 crore. The auction also saw Kagiso Rabada being sold to Gujarat Titans for Rs. 10.75 crore.
The full list of players sold and unsold at the IPL 2025 Auction includes Shreyas Iyer, Arshdeep Singh, and Kagiso Rabada among the sold players. The unsold players are yet to be announced in the categories of batters, bowlers, all-rounders, and wicketkeepers.
