Rahul Dravid, the former India captain and head coach, currently in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia to plan the IPL auction strategy for Rajasthan Royals, couldn’t resist following the intense action between India and Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Optus Stadium in Perth. In a video shared by Rajasthan Royals, Dravid can be seen inquiring about the progress of the first Test match.
The clip shows Dravid asking about the dismissal of Marnus Labuschagne on Day 1, showing his keen interest in the game. Despite being busy with the IPL auction planning, Dravid was keeping a close eye on the thrilling match unfolding in Perth.
India, led by stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah, made a stunning comeback on Day 1 of the Test match. After being bowled out for 150 by Josh Hazlewood, the Indian bowling trio of Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Harshit Rana took seven wickets collectively to leave Australia struggling at 67/7 at stumps on Day 1.
Australia were eventually bowled out for 104, giving India a lead of 46 runs. Bumrah was the standout performer with five wickets, including the crucial dismissal of Steve Smith for a golden duck. This was only the second time in Smith’s career that he was dismissed for a golden duck, the first being a decade ago by Dale Steyn.
The intense battle between India and Australia in Perth captivated cricket fans worldwide, and Dravid’s interest in the game despite his IPL auction responsibilities showcased his passion for the sport. As the series continues, all eyes will be on the players as they strive for victory in this highly anticipated contest.
