Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer has been fined for a slow over-rate during the team’s recent match against Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2025. The match took place at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, where Punjab Kings secured a four-wicket victory.

According to an IPL media advisory, this was the team’s first offence of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, resulting in a fine of INR 12 Lakh for Shreyas Iyer. The match saw Punjab Kings successfully restrict Chennai Super Kings to a total of 190 runs, with Yuzvendra Chahal’s impressive performance of 4 for 32, which included a hattrick.

In their chase, Shreyas Iyer scored 72 runs and opener Prabhsimran Singh contributed with 54 runs, helping Punjab Kings achieve the target with just two balls remaining. With this win, Punjab Kings currently holds the second position in the points table with 13 points, while Chennai Super Kings are at the bottom with only four points.

Looking ahead, Chennai Super Kings, who are already out of contention for the playoffs, will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Bengaluru on Saturday. Meanwhile, Punjab Kings will host Lucknow Super Giants in Dharamsala on Sunday.

The team is also set to announce replacements for Glenn Maxwell and Lockie Ferguson soon, as they continue their campaign in IPL 2025.
