Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins participated in the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) training session at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday. Despite ongoing fitness concerns, Cummins took part in light warm-ups, fielding drills, and some bowling practice with a shortened run-up.
As the team prepares for their IPL 2026 opener against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Saturday, Cummins’ availability for the early games remains in doubt. In his absence, Ishan Kishan has been appointed as the interim captain, with Abhishek Sharma serving as vice-captain.
While Cummins focused on his recovery and training, England all-rounder Liam Livingstone and South African Heinrich Klaasen made notable contributions during the practice session. Livingstone, who was acquired for Rs. 13 crore at the auction, worked on his batting form, while Klaasen impressed with his powerful hitting.
The team also faced the absence of Kishan, who was attending a pre-season IPL captains’ meeting in Mumbai. Cummins, who last played in the third Ashes Test in December, is looking to make a strong comeback after missing Australia’s recent T20 World Cup campaign.
With head coach Daniel Vettori overseeing the training session, the SRH squad is determined to start the season on a positive note despite the challenges they face. The team’s collective efforts and individual performances during training indicate a strong sense of commitment and readiness for the upcoming matches.
The practice session showcased the team’s determination and focus as they gear up for the competitive challenges of the IPL season ahead.
