Rishabh Pant, known for his explosive batting in T20 cricket, has opened the batting only 23 times in his career, with seven of those appearances coming in the Indian Premier League. Last season, Lucknow Super Giants experimented with Pant’s batting position in a match against Gujarat Titans. In a recent match, both Pant and Mitchell Marsh walked out to open the innings for Lucknow, a surprising tactical move that did not yield the desired result as Pant was dismissed early. Pant explained that the decision to open was a calculated move to create a left-right batting combination and disrupt the opposition’s bowling plans. Despite the early setback, Pant hinted that he may continue to bat higher up the order in future matches. Lucknow will face Sunrisers Hyderabad next on April 5.
