Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) joined the IPL in 2022 and quickly became a contender, making it to the playoffs in its early seasons. After a dip last year, the team is back with its core intact and aims to make a push for its first title.
LSG struggled with their bowling last season, recording the worst economy rate in the IPL at 10.28. They only managed to take 79 wickets in 14 matches, the third-lowest in the tournament. Spinner Digvesh Rathi was a standout performer, leading the team with 14 wickets and the best economy rate of 8.25. New addition Josh Inglis, an Australian wicketkeeper-batter, brings a strike rate of 154.35 in T20s since 2025, providing depth to the batting lineup.
Despite bowling concerns, LSG’s batting unit excelled against spin, boasting the highest strike rate against spin (159.33) in the league. Nicholas Pooran was particularly destructive, scoring 224 runs at a strike rate of 263.52 against spin. Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh also performed well against spin, striking at 151.45 and 150.35 respectively.
The team’s full squad includes players like Rishabh Pant, Avesh Khan, and Anrich Nortje, with Justin Langer as the head coach. With a strong lineup and some key additions, LSG is looking to bounce back from their previous bowling struggles and make a strong push for the title in the upcoming season.
