Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran were the standout performers for Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League 2025 match against Gujarat Titans. Marsh, the Australian all-rounder, made history by scoring a hundred off just 56 balls, becoming the first foreigner to do so in the tournament. Pooran also contributed with a fifty, helping Lucknow Super Giants secure a 33-run victory over Gujarat Titans.
Despite Gujarat Titans opting to bowl first and containing LSG’s Marsh and Aiden Markram to 53 runs in the PowerPlay, they struggled to maintain their grip on the game. The physio had to attend to injuries sustained by several GT players in the first six overs, disrupting their momentum. The Titans finally got a breakthrough in the 10th over when Markram was caught out by M. Shahrukh Khan.
Rashid Khan’s struggles with length continued in the 12th over, allowing LSG to capitalise on his bowling. Marsh’s impressive innings came to an end in the 19th over, but the damage had already been done.
In their chase, Gujarat Titans’ openers started well, but soon lost momentum as B. Sai Sudharsan fell to a delivery from Will O’Rourke. The middle order failed to make an impact, with Jos Buttler and Shubman Gill departing early. Despite a brief partnership between Sherfane Rutherford and Shahrukh, Lucknow Super Giants emerged victorious.
Overall, Marsh and Pooran’s outstanding performances led Lucknow Super Giants to a convincing win over Gujarat Titans, showcasing their talent in an otherwise lacklustre IPL 2025 campaign.
