Virat Kohli led Royal Challengers Bengaluru to a dominant eight-wicket win over Punjab Kings in the IPL Qualifier 1, securing their spot in the final for the first time in nine years. Despite Kohli being dismissed for just 12 runs, he played an active role in setting the field and motivating the bowlers during the match.
After the victory, Kohli gestured towards his wife Anushka Sharma in the stands, indicating that RCB had one more match to win. Anushka’s reaction showed her excitement and support for her husband and the team. This will be RCB’s fourth appearance in an IPL final, with previous losses in 2009, 2011, and 2016.
Punjab Kings, the table-toppers in the league stage, had a dismal performance, scoring only 101 runs before being bowled out by RCB’s formidable bowling attack. RCB chased down the target in just 10 overs, with opener Phil Salt leading the charge with an unbeaten 56.
Punjab still has a chance to reach the final by winning the second qualifier against the winner of the eliminator match between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans.
