KL Rahul will be joining the Delhi Capitals for the 2025 IPL season after being released from Lucknow Super Giants. He will be playing in a middle-order role, a departure from his usual position as an opener. This decision was influenced by the withdrawal of Harry Brook, leaving the team in need of a solid presence in the middle order. Rahul, who has previously captained Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants, will not be taking on a leadership role at Delhi Capitals. Instead, he will solely focus on his batting responsibilities. While his track record as a middle-order batter in the IPL is limited, he has shown versatility in different batting positions across formats. Rahul has an impressive IPL record, with 4,683 runs in 123 innings at an average of 45.46 and a strike rate of 134.60. He remains one of only two players, alongside Virat Kohli, to have scored over 600 runs in a single season four times. This new role at Delhi Capitals will test Rahul’s adaptability and skills in a different position in the batting order.
