Jasprit Bumrah was not part of the Mumbai Indians’ final league match of IPL 2026 against Rajasthan Royals at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday. Captain Hardik Pandya revealed at the toss that the fast bowler had been given a rest for the game. Bumrah’s performance in this season was below his usual standards, as he only managed to take four wickets from 13 innings. His average was 102.5 and he conceded runs at an economy rate of 8.37.

Despite his struggles, Bumrah did have a notable moment during the season when he captained Mumbai Indians for the first time. Under his leadership, the team secured a six-wicket victory over Punjab Kings in Dharamshala.

In addition to being rested for the IPL match, Bumrah was also left out of India’s ODI and Test squads for the upcoming series against Afghanistan. This decision was made as part of his workload management plan. However, fans can expect to see Bumrah back in action during India’s white-ball series against England later in the year.

The news of Bumrah’s absence from the IPL match and upcoming international fixtures was confirmed by Pandya at the toss. Fans will have to wait until the next season to see Bumrah back in action and hopefully performing at his usual high standards. The fast bowler’s absence was a significant blow for Mumbai Indians, but they managed to secure a victory in his absence. Published on May 24, 2026.
