India’s white-ball cricket faced a rough patch during the 2021 and 2022 T20 World Cups, failing to progress past the group stage and suffering a heavy defeat in the semi-finals. However, a shift in approach towards aggressive batting led to a successful turnaround, culminating in back-to-back T20 World Cup victories in 2024 and 2026, as well as winning the 2025 Champions Trophy.

The latest triumph, a 96-run win over New Zealand in the final, showcased India’s dominance in white-ball cricket. With a strong squad and strategic playing template, India emerged as the first team to win consecutive T20 World Cups. Key figures like captain Rohit Sharma, coach Rahul Dravid, and chief selector Ajit Agarkar played crucial roles in these victories.

Looking ahead, India aims to extend their success to the ODI format and prepare for upcoming challenges, including the 2027 World Cup in South Africa, Namibia, and Zimbabwe, and the 2028 T20 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. The ultimate goal is to secure the Olympic gold in the T20 format in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

Despite the achievements in T20 cricket, the team remains focused on continuous improvement and success in all formats of the game.
