Parashar Joshi’s journey from Indian Idol contestant to cricket umpire has been anything but conventional. Known for his resemblance to cricketer Shreyas Iyer, Parashar first gained fame as a singer on Indian Idol season 4 in 2008. Despite not winning the show, he continued to pursue music and now has a following of 13k listeners on Spotify from 48 countries.

Alongside his music career, Parashar has also been involved in club level cricket since his teenage years. Realizing he wouldn’t make it to the top level, he transitioned to umpiring and was selected for the BCCI panel in 2015. In 2024, he officiated in the Women’s Premier League and in 2025, he made his IPL debut as an umpire, standing in matches featuring top players like MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma.

In addition to his music and umpiring duties, Parashar is also an avid biker, often sharing videos of his rides on Instagram. His multi-faceted career and passion for cricket, music, and biking make him a unique and inspiring figure in the sports and entertainment world.
