Former India captain Krishnamachari Srikkanth revealed that Chris Gayle, known as the Universe Boss, would get nervous when facing off against Ravichandran Ashwin. Speaking at a book launch event in Chennai, Srikkanth mentioned that while Gayle could dominate any bowler with his aggressive batting style, his confidence wavered when Ashwin had the ball in his hand. Ashwin has dismissed Gayle five times in the IPL, limiting the explosive batsman to only 53 runs in 64 balls at a strike rate of 82.8. Srikkanth also praised MS Dhoni for recognizing Ashwin’s talent early on and transforming him into a versatile bowler across formats. As Ashwin returns to the Chennai Super Kings after a decade, Srikkanth welcomed him back as the “prodigal son” ahead of the upcoming IPL season. The CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan reminisced about their bond during Ashwin’s early days in Tamil Nadu cricket. CSK will begin their campaign against Mumbai Indians on March 23 as they aim for another successful IPL season.
