The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to reschedule the Indian Premier League (IPL) fixture between Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants on April 6th, which coincides with the festival of Ram Navami. The CAB made this move after the Kolkata Police and local authorities expressed their inability to provide adequate security due to the festivities.

CAB President Snehasish Ganguly stated that despite discussions with the authorities, it was clear that security could not be guaranteed on the day of the match. The BCCI is currently exploring options, including the possibility of moving the game to a different venue, as rescheduling may be difficult due to a packed schedule.

Last year, a similar situation occurred with a KKR home match coinciding with Ram Navami, leading to a rescheduling. The involvement of Kolkata-based industrialist Sanjiv Goenka in Lucknow Super Giants and the presence of captain Rishabh Pant has heightened interest among cricket fans in Kolkata. The demand for tickets is expected to be high, and efforts are being made to find a solution promptly.

Both teams have a week’s gap between matches, with KKR playing CSK in Chennai on April 11 and LSG hosting Gujarat Titans at home on April 12. Discussions are ongoing to find an alternative solution to ensure the smooth conduct of the IPL fixture.
