Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has backed Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) as the strongest contenders for the Indian Premier League 2025 title. Gavaskar praised RCB for their all-round strength and consistent performances, especially on the road. Currently sitting in second place on the league table, RCB has won 7 out of their 10 matches, all of which were away fixtures. However, their home form has been inconsistent, with their only setbacks occurring at home.

This season, RCB has shown a collective team effort rather than relying on individual star players like Virat Kohli. Players like Tim David, Krunal Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Devdutt Padikkal, and Josh Hazlewood have all made significant contributions to the team’s success. Gavaskar also expressed doubts about Mumbai Indians’ recent surge, stating that they have tough matches ahead and may struggle to maintain momentum.

RCB’s next match is against Chennai Super Kings, who are already eliminated from playoff contention. Gavaskar believes that RCB’s balance and consistency make them slightly ahead of Mumbai Indians in the title race. With teams fighting for playoff spots, RCB will look to continue their impressive form and secure a spot in the knockout stages.
