David Miller almost became the hero for the Delhi Capitals in a thrilling match against the opposition. After KL Rahul’s impressive 92-run innings, Miller took charge and brought the equation down to just two runs needed off two deliveries. However, a twist of fate in the final two balls led to criticism of Miller’s decision making.
On the penultimate delivery, Miller opted not to take a single when it was available, ultimately costing his team the match. Despite scoring 41 runs off 19 balls, including three sixes and three boundaries, Miller failed to connect with the final delivery from Prasidh Krishna.
Sunil Gavaskar defended Miller’s decision, acknowledging his belief in his ability to finish the game. Fellow commentator Kevin Pietersen suggested that Miller saw more risk in giving the strike to Kuldeep Yadav for the final ball.
Despite the backlash, captain Axar Patel and Miller’s former teammates showed support for him after the match. The debate continues on whether Miller’s decision was the right one in hindsight.
