Palani Amarnath, a former pacer for Chennai Super Kings, made his IPL debut in 2008 and quickly made an impact by picking up a key wicket in his first match. Despite playing only a few games due to injury, the experience was unforgettable for him. Now 43 years old, he is imparting his knowledge and skills as a coach at the CSK Academy.

Transitioning from working in a company to playing alongside cricketing legends like Matthew Hayden and Mike Hussey was a dream come true for Amarnath. He fondly remembers the thrill of sharing the field with such big stars and the pressure he felt in his debut match against Kings XI Punjab.

Unfortunately, injuries cut short his playing career, but he now uses his experience to educate young cricketers on the importance of rest and balance in life. Reflecting on his career, Amarnath acknowledges that injuries played a significant role in shaping his journey.

Despite the setbacks, he still cherishes the memories of his time on the field and the opportunity to be a part of the IPL. As he watches the tournament now, he can’t help but feel a sense of longing for the days when he was actively playing. Published on Apr 01, 2026.
