Shivalik Sharma, a cricketer who plays for Baroda and is a teammate of the Pandya brothers, Krunal and Hardik, was arrested by Rajasthan Police on charges of rape. The 26-year-old former Mumbai Indians player was taken into custody after a woman filed a complaint alleging that he engaged in physical relations with her under false pretenses of marriage. The woman claimed that she and Shivalik had met in Vadodara two years ago and had developed a close relationship since then. Shivalik, a left-handed batting all-rounder, made his debut for Baroda in 2018 and has represented the team in various domestic matches. He was also picked by the Mumbai Indians in the IPL auction but did not get a chance to play. Shivalik was last seen in action during Baroda’s Ranji Trophy campaign earlier this year. The incident has shocked the cricketing community and raised concerns about the behavior of players off the field.
