Former India cricketer Wasim Jaffer expressed his disappointment that Cameron Green has not been bowling for Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2026. Green, who was bought for ₹25.20 crore as a replacement for Andre Russell, has only featured as a batter in KKR’s opening two matches. KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane deflected questions about Green’s lack of bowling, suggesting to ask Cricket Australia. It has been confirmed that Green is recovering from a lower back issue and is expected to return to bowling in 10-12 days.

Jaffer criticized the decision to not utilize Green’s bowling skills, stating that teams pay huge amounts for players with specific skill sets and not using them is unfair to the franchise. Green has had a rough start to the season with both bat and ball, and KKR will be looking for improved performances from him in the upcoming matches.

Green had a long break from bowling due to a back injury and has struggled to make an impact in the matches he has played so far. KKR’s head coach, Abhishek Nayar, emphasized the importance of Green as an all-rounder for the team and highlighted the unpredictability of decisions made during auctions and tournaments. KKR will face Punjab Kings next at Eden Gardens on April 6.
