Former CSK player Abhinav Mukund criticized RR for their disappointing performance in IPL 2025, blaming their mega auction strategy for the disaster. RR’s overspending on batters, particularly Vaibhav Suryavanshi, was called into question as they neglected to focus on their bowling combination. Mukund highlighted the absence of star bowlers Sandeep Sharma and Wanindu Hasaranga as a major setback for RR. He suggested that instead of investing in batters like Suryavanshi and Nitish Rana, RR should have prioritized acquiring quality bowlers. The lack of a strong bowling line-up was evident in their loss to MI, where they were bowled out for 117 runs while chasing 218. Mukund emphasized the importance of having reliable bowlers in a team and pointed out missed opportunities to strengthen their bowling attack. Despite the star power of Jofra Archer, RR’s bowling department struggled, leading to their downfall in the tournament.
