Former Sri Lankan pacer and 1996 World Cup-winner, Chaminda Vaas, has been appointed as the fast-bowling coach for Delhi Capitals ahead of the IPL 2027 season. Vaas, one of Sri Lanka’s most successful bowlers with 355 wickets in Tests and 400 in ODIs, will be taking over from Munaf Patel as the team’s bowling coach.

This announcement comes shortly after Delhi Capitals named Sourav Ganguly as their new head coach and Yuvraj Singh as the batting and assistant coach. Vaas has previously worked as the bowling coach for the Sri Lankan men’s team in multiple stints and also had coaching experience with New Zealand and Ireland.

During his playing days in the IPL, Vaas represented the Deccan Chargers from 2008 to 2010. The Delhi Capitals took to Twitter to welcome Vaas to the team, acknowledging his World Cup-winning credentials and hailing him as Sri Lanka’s best-ever bowler.

With a wealth of experience both as a player and a coach, Vaas is expected to bring valuable insights and expertise to the Delhi Capitals’ fast-bowling department. The team is looking to build a strong coaching staff to guide them towards success in the upcoming IPL season.
