The Arun Jaitley Stadium, which witnessed the highest successful chase in IPL history on Saturday, saw a complete turnaround on Monday evening as Delhi Capitals were bowled out for just 75 runs in 16.3 overs by Royal Challengers Bengaluru. This marked Delhi’s third-lowest total in IPL history and their lowest since rebranding from Daredevils to Capitals in 2019.
The collapse began early as Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood wreaked havoc with the new ball. Bhuvneshwar dismissed debutant Sahil Parakh in the second ball of the innings, while Hazlewood picked up two wickets in two balls in the next over. The duo continued to dismantle Delhi’s batting lineup, leaving them reeling at 13 for 6 at the end of the powerplay.
Despite some resistance from David Miller and Abhishek Porel, Delhi never recovered from the early onslaught. RCB’s spinners also contributed to the collapse, with Hazlewood eventually returning to pick up his fourth wicket as Delhi were bundled out for 75.
This total ranks as Delhi’s third-lowest in IPL history and the lowest at the Arun Jaitley Stadium since 2017. Overall, Delhi’s 75 runs rank 12th on the all-time list of lowest IPL totals.
