The Delhi Capitals made a bold decision during a crucial playoff race by giving 18-year-old sensation Sahil Parakh his IPL debut in the match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Known for his aggressive left-handed batting, Parakh replaced Pathum Nissanka at the top of the order as DC aimed to recover from recent setbacks.
Parakh’s debut was remarkable as just three days prior, he had been rushed to the hospital after being hit on the face by a ball during a net session. Despite concerns over his fitness, he recovered quickly to earn his maiden IPL cap.
The Maharashtra teenager first gained national attention during the 2024-25 India U-19 tour of Australia, where he impressed with a match-winning century in a Youth ODI. He was bought by Delhi Capitals for ₹30 lakh in the 2026 auction and had also performed well in the Maharashtra Premier League.
His debut against RCB was seen as a strategic move by DC to bring in fresh energy and intent, especially after KL Rahul’s record-breaking performance. Unfortunately, Parakh was dismissed without scoring, falling to a brilliant delivery from Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
The playing XIs for the match included key players like KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, and Axar Patel, showcasing the talent on both sides.
