Delhi Capitals pacer Mukesh Kumar has been fined 10% of his match fee and received one demerit point for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during his team’s defeat to Mumbai Indians. The punishment followed a Level 1 offence under Article 2.2 of the Code, which pertains to the abuse of cricket equipment or ground fixtures. Kumar admitted to the offence and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction. This incident occurred on a night when Delhi’s campaign unraveled as they were eliminated from the playoffs race after losing to Mumbai.

Mukesh Kumar picked up a couple of wickets but was unable to prevent Mumbai from scoring 48 runs in the last two overs. Suryakumar Yadav’s unbeaten 73 and a late assault with Naman Dhir helped Mumbai set an above-par total. Delhi struggled to chase the target on a turning pitch, losing key wickets early on. Jasprit Bumrah and Mitchell Santner’s bowling performances further dented Delhi’s chances as their season came to a disappointing end. The defeat also meant that Delhi became the first team in IPL history to miss the playoffs after winning their first four matches.
