Pat Cummins recently addressed his availability for the upcoming 2026 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), revealing that he is aiming to return in the second half of the tournament as he continues to recover from a lumbar stress injury. Cummins has played only one match since July last year due to the back issue and was initially expected to participate in the T20 World Cup before being ruled out. He made himself unavailable for the first half of the IPL season, with Ishan Kishan appointed as interim captain for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Cummins has been training in India and is optimistic about his progress but remains cautious about his return timeline. He praised Kishan’s appointment as captain, highlighting his success in domestic cricket. Cummins plans to be fully fit by the middle of the IPL tournament and hopes to play in the later stages and finals. Sunrisers Hyderabad will kick off their 2026 campaign against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Saturday.
