Former England captain Michael Vaughan criticized Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batting approach during their chase of 197 against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL 2025. CSK fell short by 50 runs as RCB secured their second win in the tournament. Vaughan highlighted that CSK lacked intent and rhythm in their batting approach, failing to pose a threat to RCB bowlers.
CSK lost early wickets, including skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, and struggled to recover. Vaughan pointed out that the team appeared passive and did not attempt to unsettle the opposition bowlers. He expressed surprise at MS Dhoni batting at No.9 in the lineup, questioning the decision to send him so low down the order.
Despite Dhoni’s impressive performance towards the end of the innings, CSK’s loss has pushed them to seventh place in the IPL standings. Vaughan emphasized the need for CSK to reassess their approach and make strategic changes in their upcoming matches. The team will face Rajasthan Royals next in Guwahati on Sunday.
