Chennai Super Kings had a disappointing start to their IPL 2026 season-opener against Rajasthan Royals at the ACA Stadium in Barsapara, Guwahati. The team collapsed to 57 for six in eight overs, with Nandre Burger and former CSK player Ravindra Jadeja taking two wickets each. Star players Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube both failed to make an impact, getting out for just six runs each.

CSK was in danger of surpassing its lowest total in IPL history, which is 79 all out against Mumbai Indians in 2013. Left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha, who is now a current India selector, claimed three wickets while Lasith Malinga also took two as CSK struggled in their chase of 140.

The lowest total in IPL history still belongs to Royal Challengers Bangalore, who were bowled out for just 49 against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2017.

Here are some of Chennai Super Kings’ lowest totals in IPL history:
– 79 all out vs Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium in 2013
– 97 all out vs Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium in 2013
– 103/9 vs Kolkata Knight Riders at MA Chidambaram Stadium in 2025
– 108 all out vs Rajasthan Royals at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur in 2008
– 109 all out vs Mumbai Indians at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai in 2019
