Chennai Super Kings suffered a third consecutive loss in the 2026 IPL season against Royal Challengers Bangalore, with captain Ruturaj Gaikwad taking responsibility for the defeat. Despite a strong start with the ball, CSK conceded 97 runs in the final five overs, allowing RCB to post a massive total of 250 for three.

The chase faltered early on as both Gaikwad and Sanju Samson failed to contribute with the bat for the third consecutive game. Gaikwad admitted that his lack of contribution was a major factor in the team’s loss, stating, “If I had contributed more, maybe it could have been different. It [the loss] was definitely on me today.”

Despite the disappointing result, Gaikwad praised the efforts of Sarfaraz, Overton, Veer, and Dube for their fighting spirit in the match. He also highlighted missed opportunities in the first innings that could have changed the outcome of the game, particularly mentioning a missed chance to dismiss Tim David and an early opportunity to get Virat Kohli out.

Looking ahead, CSK will face Delhi Capitals in their next match, aiming to avoid a fourth consecutive defeat in the tournament. The team will be looking to regroup and bounce back from their recent setbacks as they continue their campaign in the IPL.
