A British citizen, 76-year-old Ian Williams Langford, who was working with the broadcasting crew for the Indian Premier League (IPL) season, was found dead in his room at the Trident Hotel in Mumbai. Langford, a dedicated broadcast engineer, had been staying at the hotel since March 24 for the IPL.

The IPL Governing Council and stakeholders expressed their deepest condolences on Langford’s untimely demise, acknowledging his integral role in broadcast operations. The Board of Control for Cricket in India released a statement offering support to Langford’s family during this difficult time, emphasizing the importance of the health and safety of all involved in the IPL.

An accidental death report has been filed at the Marine Drive Police Station, with further investigation ongoing after Langford was discovered unresponsive in his room by hotel staff.
