The Board of Control for Cricket in India is set to ban all forms of tobacco, alcohol, and crypto sponsorships, including surrogate advertisements, during IPL 2025. This decision will be formally discussed during the Apex Council meeting in Kolkata before the KKR vs RCB IPL 2025 opener on March 22. The health ministry recently instructed the BCCI to ban all forms of tobacco and alcohol promotions, leading to this decision. Additionally, the BCCI will form an organizing committee for the Women’s ODI World Cup, with discussions on venues and scheduling. The Apex Council will also finalize the structure for the 2025-26 domestic season, including deciding on venues for upcoming Test series against West Indies and South Africa. With new office-bearers in place, changes in signatories to the bank accounts operated by BCCI will also be approved. This move aims to align the IPL with government directives and promote a healthier and more responsible approach to sponsorships in cricket.
