The ban is a security measure to prevent match-fixing and spot-fixing, as these glasses can transmit live audio and video from the field. Non-compliance will result in disciplinary action. The ban comes after a recent incident where a team manager was fined for using a mobile phone in the dugout. The cost of smart sunglasses varies depending on features, with standard models priced between ₹25,000 to ₹40,000. The BCCI clarifies that standard prescription glasses are still allowed, but smart sunglasses with communication and recording capabilities are strictly prohibited. The crackdown on smart glasses aims to ensure that game strategies remain confidential and not influenced by external factors.
