Former India cricketer Kris Srikkanth criticized the Lucknow Super Giants’ decision to send Rishabh Pant to bat at No. 7 in a recent IPL game against Delhi Capitals. Pant, the team captain, was seen having a heated discussion with team mentor Zaheer Khan in the dugout before eventually walking out to bat with just two balls remaining in the innings. Srikkanth questioned the logic behind the move on his YouTube show, Cheeky Cheeka, expressing frustration towards head coach Justin Langer and Zaheer Khan. He questioned why Pant was not allowed to bat earlier and criticized the decision-making of the team management.
Pant later explained that the decision was made to capitalize on the conditions of the pitch, but the team struggled to score runs in the final over. The Lucknow Super Giants lost the match by just one wicket, and Pant mentioned the need to find the best combination for future games. The team will face Punjab Kings next, currently standing in sixth place in the IPL table with 10 points from 10 games. Srikkanth’s criticism highlights the confusion surrounding Pant’s batting position and the decision-making process within the Lucknow Super Giants team management.
