Kolkata Knight Riders’ debutant, Cameron Green, was unable to bowl in the IPL 2026 match against Mumbai Indians due to a lower back injury. Despite his absence on the bowling front, Green managed to score 18 runs off 10 balls while batting at number three. KKR ultimately lost the match as MI successfully chased down the 221-run target.

The team, already facing injuries to its main fast bowlers, was unable to fully utilize Green’s talents as an all-rounder from Australia. When questioned about Green’s absence from bowling, KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane directed inquiries to Cricket Australia. It was later revealed that Green is managing a lower back injury, which required him to refrain from bowling for a short period.

Green had previously suffered a stress fracture in his back in 2024, resulting in surgery and a year-long hiatus from bowling until 2025. He only bowled seven balls at the T20 World Cup in February and primarily featured as a batter in the Sheffield Shield’s ninth round.

Rahane expressed hope for Green’s return to bowling soon, as it would allow for adjustments in the team’s composition. Cricket Australia confirmed that Green is working on rebuilding his bowling loads in India and is expected to return to bowling in around 10-12 days. The team is fully aware of this development and is looking forward to Green’s full recovery.
